One Piece will follow in the footsteps of the 2017 Death Note movie and the 2021 series Cowboy Bebop by becoming the latest anime and manga series to receive a live-action Netflix adaptation.
Eiichiro Oda, the man of the One Piece manga, is serving as the adaptation of One Piece for Netflix’s streaming service along with Tomorrow Studios. Hiroyuki Nakano, the editor-in-chief of Weekly Shonen Jump, first revealed the series in July 2017 to mark the manga’s 20th anniversary.
One Piece first appeared on July 22, 1997, in a Weekly Shonen Jump issue. Since then, over 1,000 chapters and 95 volumes of the manga have been released, and it is currently in its final arc.
For the time being, Netflix has authorized the production of a single season of the live adaptation, which will have ten episodes. Steven Maeda (CSI: Miami, Lost) and Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will serve as the showrunners.

Bonus: Netflix is holding fan screenings of One Piece before the streaming release in ten cities across the globe. The world event will start on August 24 in Los Angeles and proceed to Paris on August 29. On August 30, screenings will be held in Jakarta, Tokyo, Milan, and Metro Manila.
On August 31, screenings will be held in Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and Bangkok. A special virtual event will also be available to German fans on August 31. Netflix has promised two hours of events, followed by a showing of the pilot episode, so fans are invited to dress up for the special events.
