PS5 And PS4 New Features

We’re launching additional fan-requested features to our global community today thanks to the assistance of our beta testers, including the option to start or join Open and Closed Parties on PS5 and PS4 consoles. Additionally, we’re delivering accessibility features, including mono audio for headphones and UI improvements to Game Base and Trophy cards for PS5.

PS5 users with accounts linked to either the U.S. or the U.K. Users have access to a Voice Command (Preview) feature that enables consumers to use their voice to discover and launch games, apps, and settings and manage media playback (English language setting only).

Check out the new “Pro Tips” cards in the Control Center for a refresher on PS5 features, including how to apply game settings on your console, pin videos and applications to your screen as you play, or share your screen with friends. Improvements To PS App And PS Remote Play

We’re gradually introducing the capability for PS App users to start or join Open and Closed Parties using the app later today. To provide a consistent player experience with PS5, we’ve also changed the PS App Game Base UI to make accessing the Friends, Parties, and messaging capabilities simpler.
Users of the PS Remote Play mobile app may now access a new “dark mode” based on their phone settings and select new Screen Reader languages for both iOS and Android, including Chinese, Finnish, Swedish, Turkish, Greek, Thai, and Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal) (traditional and simplified).

Playstation System Update

Support For PS5’s Variable Refresh Rate!

We’re also happy to announce that the PS5 version of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) will be available soon. VRR dynamically synchronizes the display’s refresh rate to the PS5 console’s graphical output on TVs and PC monitors that support HDMI 2.1.

This improves the visual performance of PS5 games by reducing or removing visual artifacts like stuttering and screen tearing. Many PS5 games have smoother gameplay thanks to quicker scene rendering, sharper graphics, and decreased input lag. Future games may feature VRR compatibility right out of the gate, while PS5 games that have already been released can be optimized for VRR through a game patch.

You can even decide to apply VRR to PS5 games that do not support it as an additional option. Some games may benefit from this feature’s improved video quality. You can permanently disable this option if it produces any unexpected visual impacts. This additional option, as well as VRR, can be enabled or disabled.

Please be aware that your results may vary depending on the TV you’re using and the game you’re playing. More information, including some games that will add VRR compatibility via a game patch, will be shared as we move closer to the feature’s debut.

Options For Better Control And Personalization On PS5 Consoles

Enhanced game base Access to crucial information and functionality is quicker thanks to changes made to the Game Base menu. To start conversing with your current parties or to see what each of your online friends is up to, you can now quickly flip between Parties and Friends. You can also enable or disable notifications for each party you are a part of.

Turn off game chat or lower player volume: You may instantly switch off in-game communication, which mutes your microphone and other players’ speech audio. To avoid constantly asking your friends to reduce or raise their mic volume, you may now easily change the individual voice chat volume of other players in the same conversation.

Pre-downloading the game update: Title updates for games will pre-download to your console if the “automatic updates” feature is selected and your console is on or in rest mode once developers have enabled it. This will allow you to launch a game as soon as it receives an update and begin playing.

Develop a game library: Finding content is significantly more straightforward, and you can now customize how your game collection appears, thanks to the option to conceal games from the display.

Screen zooming: You may now change the screen’s magnification to your liking from the Settings menu.

New stats screen and trophy settings: You can now select to only record and preserve images/videos of instances when you receive higher-grade awards, such as “Gold,” which triggers the automatic capture of a screenshot or video clip.

Platinum or gold: You can now view a quick summary of your trophy level and status on the new player Trophy Stats screen.
