Today is the final day to play Overwatch 1 before the game’s servers shut down to make room for Overwatch 2, so the Overwatch 1 shutdown has begun. Remember that once the servers are back online, Overwatch 2 will have replaced Overwatch 1, thus during the estimated 27-hour server downtime.
Blizzard will be putting the finishing touches on getting everything ready for the launch of Overwatch 2. Here is the information you need to know about the conclusion of Overwatch 1 and the switch to Overwatch 2 if you want to know how long you have to pay your last respects.

What Time Will Overwatch 1 Shutt Down?
The Overwatch 1 servers will shut down on October 3 at 9 AM PDT, 12 PM EDT, 5 PM BST, and 6 PM CEST, according to Blizzard. This indicates that for a large portion of the world, October 2 marked the final full day of Overwatch 1 play.
The servers will go offline for Overwatch 1 and stay offline for about 27 hours, returning on October 4 at 12 p.m. PDT, 3 p.m. EDT, 8 p.m. BST, and 9 p.m. CEST for the launch of Overwatch 2. People in Australia, New Zealand, and most of Asia will find that Overwatch 2 launches in the early hours of October 5 (assuming everything goes according to plan).

Overwatch 1 will be replaced by Overwatch 2 after the server outage is over. Overwatch 2 will be available to everyone for free to play and feature the newest heroes, including Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko from the season 1 battle pass, as well as six new maps, the new Push mode, and the first premium Overwatch 2 battle pass.
Overwatch 1 shutting down tonight, though I haven’t played it since the alpha, it was a huge part of my life working with Blizzard took Henchmen (Jordan and I) from scrappy prop makers in a basement in Calgary to a studio of 20+ people sometimes in Toronto. pic.twitter.com/Dp5XZZlvDc

Why Are The Overwatch 1 Servers Closing?
Overwatch 1 servers are being shut down as OW2’s PvP mode totally replaces the first game. There have been a few forum complaints as a result of this. One of the greatest complaints is that OW2 differs from OW1 in that it is a 5v5 game rather than a 6v6 game.
Additionally, some fans are displeased with the fact that everyone must use the Battle Pass system, which is free but will also have Premium choices, on Reddit.
Some might prefer that the old servers remain online, but doing so would merely split the player base and lengthen wait times for both types of services. Additionally, by replacing the original game, Blizzard will only have to supply servers and patches for one multiplayer experience as opposed to two.
