Once again, the 134-year-old card game manufacturer Nintendo is returning to the well, hoping to sell more Switches. This time, it’s the OLED-equipped The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition Nintendo Switch that desperately wants to find its way into your hands and living rooms.
The $360 handheld is now available for pre-order, and as usual, it comes with intriguing textured patterns on the back, such as what looks like zen garden raking and matching themed designs for the Joy-Cons and dock. Shipping is temporarily unavailable, so you may need to arrange for in-store pickup.

As the website description at Best Buy suggests, the initial stock is likely to be erratic if it sells out quickly due to high demand. Even though GameStop’s online shop is live as of this writing, the retailer is not currently accepting orders.
Even if the Animal Crossing: New Horizons special edition Switch has sold out multiple times in its first few months on sale, that doesn’t mean Nintendo won’t make more in the coming weeks and months. But if you want to complete your set with this stylish new edition, hurry. This themed Switch console, like most others, does not include a physical copy of the game.
On May 12, alongside the release of Breath of the Wild, Nintendo will also begin selling Tears of the Kingdom-themed Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers (for $75) and carrying cases (for $25) for all you Triforce heads out there. A few weeks earlier, on April 28, the console itself would be released.
Players will once again assume control of Link, the legendary hero of Hyrule, in Tears of the Kingdom. The game features the same cell-shaded visual style as Breath of the Wild. Still, it adds a new “recall” ability that allows Link to travel to different floating islands, which Nintendo calls “sky islands,” by riding chunks of rock that fall from the islands back to their place of origin above.
If you haven’t seen it yet, Nintendo published ten minutes of gameplay footage today, showing Link using his newfound powers to build and weaponize the environment.

The game will be the first $70 Nintendo Switch exclusive, but Nintendo Switch Online members can pre-order it for less right now by purchasing a pair of Nintendo Game Vouchers for $100. Each voucher can be redeemed for a different game from the Game Voucher catalog.
For most of the company’s first-party games or one of the more expensive third-party titles, this effectively raises the price to $50.
