MultiVersus Gets New Update: Adding Morty, Patch Notes Revealed

Today’s update to the well-known fighting game MultiVersus most notably adds Morty from Rick & Morty to the pool of playable characters. Morty is among the first significant characters to join MultiVersus in Season 1, along with Rick, Stripe, and Black Adam. And while  Morty’s inclusion in this new MultiVersus patch may be the thing that fans are most excited about, other significant balancing adjustments have also been made.

MultiVersus patch 1.01 is now accessible on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms as of today, August 23. This update not only includes the “Plumbus-wielding” Morty but also improves a few of the game’s assassin characters. As a result, Harley, Arya, and Finn are all.

We knew the first season of MultiVersus would premiere on August 15th. This was verified by an official account on Twitter. Originally scheduled for an August 9 debut, the release date was pushed back. A delay occurred, but it wasn’t too serious.

The official MultiVersus Twitter account revealed that the pre-season pass would be extended from August 8 to August 15, hinting that we will get season 1 then. This news came around the same time as the postponement was announced. It ended up being the case that this was the right clue!

A new Battle Pass will be available on MultiVersus beginning with Season 1. To yet, all we know about the Battle Pass is that it will cost 950 Gleamium ($9.99), have 50 tiers, and be available in the game thanks to director of production Tony Huynh. What’s more, it appears that you and a companion can share your Battle Pass development.

In addition to this, a few problems have also been fixed in this MultiVersus release. Looking further into the future, the game’s creator, Player First Games, has also revealed that Garnet and Taz will receive improvements in the upcoming release. While the appearance of these buffs is yet unknown, additional information should be available shortly. Gameplay Systems

Fixed an issue in which projectiles might spawn near to terrain without triggering ability cooldowns.
Characters\sLegend:

+ = Buff

– = Nerf

= Alteration

Note: Callouts for attacks refer to default controls.

Arya

+ Passive Assassin

additional damage absorbed was decreased from 14% to 5%.

We’re deciding whether or not to completely delete this passive. While attempting to avoid moving too quickly or far, we wish to move in that direction. We don’t want to foster a culture of assassination

Finn

Since we reduced the strength of Finn’s Backpack, we are increasing the power of the rest of his strikes to offer him more potential targets.

0

+ Ground/Air Neutral Special

Base damage increased from 5 to 6

Holding and charging the attack increases this base damage.

Additionally, Ground Down Special (BMO Chop)

Damage Increased from 18 to 20

Higher Knockback from 18 to 20 scale

+ Passive for assassins: Dropped additional damage taken from 14% to 5%.
We’re deciding whether or not to completely delete this passive. While attempting to avoid moving too quickly or far, we wish to move in that direction. We don’t want to develop a meta that is dominated by assassins. This change’s Movelist Description won’t be changed until the following patch.

Buffs for Garnet Garnet are coming in the upcoming patch!

Harley

+ Passive Assassin

additional damage absorbed was decreased from 14% to 5%.

We’re deciding whether or not to completely delete this passive. While attempting to avoid moving too quickly or far, we wish to move in that direction. We don’t want to develop a meta that is dominated by assassins. This change’s Movelist Description won’t be changed until the following patch.

Steel Giant

At every skill level, Iron Giant is now dominating with unnaturally high victory rates. There aren’t enough opportunities for opponents to counterplay thanks to Velma and the compounded cooldown decrease on Iron Giant’s Neutral Special. More windows of opportunity for opponents to engage Iron Giant should be made possible by modifications to Velma, perks, and Iron Giant.

– Neutral Air/Ground Special:

cooldown lengthened from 23 to 25 seconds

air-up attack

Hit boxes shrunk to better match the assault graphics.

– Ground Up/Air Special

reduced knockback and damage by one on the penultimate blow of the spin

Additionally, Ground Down Special:

Allow the Cannonball to be canceled if it impacts an adversary.

Superman

A bug that allowed Superman to grab opponents who wall-bounced has been fixed.
