Characters
Despite Kamisama Kiss’s large ensemble, the show focuses on just two people. Below are the names of the two protagonists.
As a teenager, Nanami Momozono had a difficult upbringing and is the show’s protagonist. In elementary school, Nanami was frequently teased about her financial situation because of her father’s gambling addiction. After her father makes a huge blunder, Nanami is evicted from her apartment. The course of her life is changed forever when she saves a homeless man from an attack by a dog while trying to make ends meet on the streets. She discovers that Mikage is the Earth’s local deity and that his powers have been transferred to her during her investigation. The new Earth deity is thrust upon Nanami, who quickly adjusts to her dual roles as a student and a deity. Later in the show, Nanami develops feelings for Tomoe, but he rejects her because a human and a demon cannot be romantically involved.
His name is Tomoe. Mikage’s familiar is Tomoe, who used to be the god of Earth, Mikage’s best friend and companion. Tomoe reluctantly agrees to a contract with Nanami only after learning that Mikage has given him his powers. Hostility and condescension immediately come to mind when Nanami becomes the new Earth deity for Tomoe. Nanami’s feelings for Tomoe begin to change as the show progresses. He grows emotionally attached to her and is a constant worry for her well-being. Tomoe becomes infatuated with Nanami, despite his earlier reservations. Tomoe’s powers have been proven to be extremely powerful and capable of disabling other familiars.
