The youngest of four brothers in a college coaching fraternity and the first to enter the SEC is the former defensive assistant who is now the head coach. Mark was on Mike’s coaching staff at Arizona from 2004 to 2009 as the Wildcats’ defensive coordinator. Mark never worked with Bob in Oklahoma. Ron, the eldest brother, currently works as an assistant at Youngstown State.
Stoops, a defensive backs coach at multiple previous stops, was recruited by Kentucky in 2013 to take over its ailing program after Joker Phillips was fired from Florida State. Stoops inherited a catastrophe, and in his first season in Lexington, he only managed to win two of the eight SEC games.

Hawkeyes Plan A Hostile Reunion even though Stoops Brothers Are Like Family
Coach Kirk Ferentz worked to improve the Hawkeye offensive line from 1981 to 1989, while the Stoops brothers were involved in football at Iowa as players and coaches. Ricky Stanzi set a new record for the junior quarterback of Iowa by completing four touchdown passes into the end zone for the Cyclones.
