Gotham Knights Release Date: Trailers, Gameplay, News and Rumors

The upcoming open-world video game Gotham Knights claim to transport us to a more “dynamic and interactive” Gotham City. Gotham Knights, developed by WB Games Montreal, the same team behind the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Origins game, removes Batman from the action and lets you take control of four additional characters from his world: Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Robin (Tim Drake), Nightwing (Dick Grayson), and Red Hood (Jason Todd).

You can use each of these characters’ special skills and talents throughout Gotham City’s five district boroughs whether you’re playing alone or with a companion in drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer. Originally scheduled for release in 2021, Warner Bros. revealed in March 2021 that the game will now not be released until 2022. Later, October 25 was announced as the day of release.

However, that was announced at Gamescom 2022. It was revealed that Gotham Knights’ release date had been pushed back by four days to October 21 during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The new DC game will be available to us sooner than we anticipated, which is a welcome break from the frequent delays that have dogged 2022.

Unfortunately, the superhero beat ’em up will not be playable on PS4 or Xbox One. Gotham Knights would be available on PS4 and Xbox One, Warner Bros. claimed when the game was first revealed back in 2020. However, in May, it abandoned that promise.

At DC FanDome 2021, Warner Bros. unveiled a brand-new Gotham Knights trailer. It confirms that The Court of Owls will probably be the game’s main antagonist in a tense and unsettling way. This is an elite group from Gotham that combines a hidden society with a criminal enterprise.

First-Ever Trailer

At DC FanDome 2020, the first action-packed Gotham Knights trailer was unveiled. It depicts our four vigilantes receiving a posthumous call from Bruce Wayne, who warns Gotham is unsafe and the GCPD is to be distrusted. Bruce Wayne also leaves behind all of his files and a base of operations (The Belfy) to help keep the city safe.

Following a montage showcasing the four characters’ various fighting philosophies, the game’s co-op mode and the introduction of the Batcycle are then covered. The Court of Owls, who is most likely the game’s main antagonist, is introduced as the trailer comes to a close.

At the same time, a young child’s voice is heard saying: “Nobody discusses them. Not a whisper is spoken. Because if you attempt to smash them, the talon will kill you.” This is a reference to the vicious killers known as “Talons,” who were first mentioned in Batman #2 from back in 2011.

Demo Of The Game

In May 2022, Gotham Knights developer Warner Bros. Games Montreal released a 13-minute gameplay trailer that gave us an in-depth look at Nightwing and Red Hood in action. We can also see a few of the game’s personalization choices in the gameplay sample. Additionally, a section of stealth gameplay is demonstrated as Nightwing enters a secret Court of Owls lair.

By battling crime all throughout Gotham, you’ll be able to gather resources that you can use to make suits, equipment, and upgrades. As in previous Batman Arkham games, you’ll start by eliminating hapless goons before engaging in arena battles with hordes of adversaries.

Breakdown Of Nightwing’s Gotham Knights Attire

Red Hood, on the other hand, shoots them at a distance with two handguns. He’s not breaking Batman’s pacifist code, though, as they appear to be loaded with non-lethal shots. He accumulates momentum through successful assaults and doges, which he can then use to perform special skills. The preferred form of transportation for Red Hood and Nightwing is a little different. He uses short spurts of “soul energy” to move across the skyline. Everything seems incredibly mystical.

The Batcomputer will serve as the Gotham Knights’ main base, while the Belfrey will be where the heroes congregate during the day to strategize their next move. The heroes go out at night to look for information, fight crime in the city’s five districts, and explore. The Batcycle and a grapple will be available to heroes as they explore Gotham City.

Players will choose a hero to play as before leaving for midnight patrol, though you can change your crimefighter by going back to the Belfrey. You can play the entire game with only one hero; you’re not required to play as one at any one time.

At the Belfrey, players can modify the weapons and skills of their heroes. By battling crime all throughout Gotham, you’ll gather materials that you can use to make outfits, equipment, and enhancements. Every hero has a different ability tree, and experience is gained through engaging in open-world activities.
