Google Pixel 7 Pro Release Date: It’s clear that Google is now taking its smartphone offerings seriously with the release of the Pixel 7 Pro. This new flagship model is an absolute beauty in terms of style and functionality, and it spares no expense in its drive to become the best Android smartphone available.
And trust me when I say it comes close to being the best. The Pixel 7 Pro’s improved cameras, faster processor, brighter screen, and low price make it a strong contender for my top spot among Android phones. Even though the Pixel 7 Pro starts at $300 cheaper than the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it is still a formidable opponent.
The new Pixel has improved battery life and a quicker fingerprint sensor compared to last year’s Pixel 6 Pro, which was my primary complaint. One more thing going in Google’s favor with the Pixel 7 Pro is the inclusion of the modernized Tensor G2 silicon.
Not only is this year’s chipset far quicker than last year’s (it came in second in our tests only to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1), but it also offers a ton of advanced AI and machine learning features that are exclusive to the Pixel 7 Pro (and the Pixel 7). Some new features, such as Photo Unblur and the accelerated Night Sight, are incredible.
The Pixel 7 Pro is a home run, and I’m not just saying that since Pixels are my favorite smartphone brand. This handset amps up the ideas introduced by the Pixel 6 line. See what Google has cooked up for £599 / $599 / AU$999 in our Pixel 7 review and save even more money than competing flagships.

Google Pixel 7 Pro Price And Availability
Price-wise, the Pixel 7 Pro ranges from $899 to £849 to AU$1,299. The base model has 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. You can upgrade to 256GB for $999/£849/AU$1,499, and to 512GB for $1,099/AU$1,599. Considering that the starting prices of the Galaxy S22 Ultra ($1,199), iPhone 14 Pro ($999), and iPhone 14 Pro Max ($1,099) all include 128GB, this is an excellent deal.

The Pixel 7 Pro offers more significant storage space for the price. While the Pixel 7 Pro is more expensive than the Galaxy S22 and the iPhone 14, it is only $100 more expensive than the Galaxy S22 Plus and the iPhone 14 Plus, respectively. You may also read How to turn off I phone 14
The Google handset, however, has features that set it apart from the competition, such as a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Neither the iPhone 14 nor the iPhone 14 Plus have telephoto cameras or adaptive 120Hz screens.
On October 13, Google will release the Pixel 7 Pro. It can be purchased from various sources, including Amazon, Best Buy, and major carriers.
Google Pixel 7 Pro Design
Let’s pause to appreciate the Pixel 7 Pro, especially in the Hazel finish I reviewed. You can see Google’s new design language from 2018; by 2022, the business will have perfected it. The Pixel 7 Pro looks excellent in all three color options, thanks to the sleek metal camera bar that fits in with the rest of the design and the large, eye-catching lenses on the back.
The Pixel 7 Pro’s 7.5-ounce weight makes it feel more substantial than its predecessor (7.4 ounces). Even if it’s not much weight, the difference of 0.1 ounces is undoubtedly perceptible. Even though it’s 0.3 inches slimmer than the Pixel 6 Pro, the new Pixel still has a heft. Strangely, my gut feeling goes against the data.
Nonetheless, I was aware of it when I held the Pixel 7 Pro. (I bring this up since I’ve been using the Pixel 6 Pro nonstop since it came out.) One thing I don’t like about the Pixel 7 Pro is how easy it may be dropped. In contrast to the Lemongrass Pixel 7 I have, the new Pro tends to slip out of my palm or off of slightly unlevel surfaces.
I was hoping Google would fix this for the Pixel 6 Pro’s successor, but the Pro Pixels continue to be too glossy and slick for my taste. Maybe Google will release a Pixel 8 Pro with a better grip.
Google Pixel 7 Pro Display
The OLED screen of the Pixel 7 Pro is 6.7 inches in size and can display images in QHD+ quality. I didn’t have any significant issues with the Pixel 6 Pro’s screen, although I did notice that it wasn’t exceptionally bright for use in direct sunlight.
Here’s what we measured for the display.
Pixel 7 Pro | iPhone 14 Pro | Galaxy S22 Ultra | |
Display size | 6.7 inches | 6.1 inches | 6.8 inches |
sRGB (%) | 104.9 (Natural) | 119.8 | 137.5 (Natural) |
DCI-P3 (%) | 74.3 (Natural) | 84.8 | 97.4 (Natural) |
Delta-E | 0.28 (Natural) | 0.25 | 0.25 (Natural) |
Peak brightness (nits) | 927 | 993 (SDR) / 1448 (HDR) | 644 (SDR) / 1359 (HDR) |
This year’s Google Pixel 7 Pro looks to have considered this, as it is much brighter than last year’s model. Google may have narrowed the gap between its two main competitors, but the Pixel 7 Pro’s display still lags behind the iPhone 14 Pro and the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
On the other hand, a brightness level nearing 1,000 nits is undoubtedly not a minor achievement. To take photographs, I find that working in the open air is ideal since I have good visibility. Even though the iPhone 14 Pro and the Samsung have the same Delta-E score for color accuracy, the Samsung is the clear winner in color reproduction in the sRGB and DCI-P3 gamuts. However, it is common knowledge at this point that Samsung and Apple provide the finest displays available. Based on my experience, the Pixel 7 Pro’s screen is an improvement over last year’s. Bright colors are complemented by solid contrast and inky blacks.
Google Pixel 7 Pro Cameras
The Pixel 7 Pro has three cameras in its back. The 50MP primary sensor is responsible for most of the work and delivers results on par with my expectations.
Capturing fine details at a vast angle is a breeze with the 12MP ultrawide sensor. There’s also a 48-megapixel telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom. The 10.8-megapixel front-facing camera is usable in most situations.
Google Pixel 7 Pro Curved Screen?
The Google Pixel 7 Pro, yes, has rounded corners. Whether or not you found that function useful before, it still operates with a few minor adjustments made by Google. Its predecessor, the Pixel 6, had more pronounced curves, but the Pixel 7 Pro tones them down.
Conclusion
Our brief time with the larger Pixel 7 Pro made us believe it functioned admirably. It boasts a gorgeous screen, powerful internals, a high-quality camera setup, and a streamlined take on the Android OS courtesy of Google’s Pixel brand.
While the Pixel 7’s smaller size and less premium build may feel like a step down at first, it more than holds its own in day-to-day use thanks to excellent performance and camera quality that are on par with its larger sibling. In addition to being considerably less expensive, the design flaws are mitigated.
Although the Pixel 7 phones may not appear all that thrilling to those who already own a Pixel 6, those upgrading from an older model or switching from another brand will likely find much to like on either handset.
