When A Manhattan Rooftop Bar, Dale Cheney, The Founder Of Darien’s T-Street Capital, Falls, Does He Die?
On Wednesday night, 46-year-old Dale Cheney, the founder and general partner of the Darien, Connecticut-based private equity company T-street Capital, was killed when he plummeted to his death from a Manhattan rooftop nightclub. Around 6:30 p.m., Cheney, a resident of New Canaan, Connecticut, fell from Bar 54 at the Hyatt Centric Times Square in New York. He hit the ground below. Cheney is reported to have leaped from the rooftop bar, according to witnesses. He was declared dead on the spot, and the authorities are looking into whether or not he committed suicide.

Prior to becoming a standalone business in 2013, Cheney’s T-street Capital was Opus Bank’s private equity section. He was an investing principal with Citicorp Venture Capital earlier in his career. Cheney received his MBA from the Harvard Business School and entered the financial services sector in 2005 at Goldman Sachs’ investment banking division. Cheney served as a director on over a dozen other boards of directors in addition to T-street Capital.

The day before he passed away, Cheney filed for divorce from his wife, according to a New York Post article. The couple had three kids and a history of marital issues, which included two domestic violence-related police calls to their house in 2008.
