Biden Continues To Test Positive, Has ‘Return Of A Loose Cough’: Doctor

Despite continuing to test positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, President Joe Biden is “healthy,” per a memo from his physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor. “The President is doing fine, though a loose cough has returned. He hasn’t gotten sick and is still feeling upbeat. Everything about his vitals, including his temperature, pulse, blood pressure, breathing rate, and oxygen saturation, is normal.

He has healthy lungs, “O’Connor penned this. Vice President Biden, according to O’Connor, “will continue his tight isolation measures” and “will continue to do the business of the American people from the Executive Residence.”

On July 21, Biden had his first test for COVID-19, and it came back positive. It was reported that he had been experiencing symptoms such as a runny nose, cough, sore throat, a mild fever, and bodily aches at the time. Paxlovid was used to treat him, and he underwent testing just one week ago Wednesday before being released from isolation.

Rebound infection, which can occur in people on Paxlovid, is why he tested positive again on Saturday. In high-risk patients, using Paxlovid still significantly reduces the likelihood of needing hospitalization. O’Connor initially mentioned the rebound case’s symptoms returning in a memo he wrote on Tuesday.

Although Biden had six close contacts prior to his positive test for COVID for the second time, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated on Monday that none of those contacts have tested positive for the virus.

It is not certain how long Vice President Biden will be able to stay away from the White House in order to go on the various travels that have been planned. On Monday, Jean-Pierre mentioned that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have not yet issued any recommendations or guidelines on travel following a rebound illness.
