All About Resident Evil 2,3 and 7 For PS5! Latest Updates

The Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 PS5 next-gen upgrades were released as a surprise straight after today’s Capcom Digital Showcase. These updates enhance each game to make use of PS5, Xbox Series X|S hardware, and are supposed to improve aesthetics and performance on PC. We’re thrilled for any chance to revisit these titles, and we’ll go through what the Resident Evil next-gen updates bring below.

What’s new in the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 next-gen upgrades?

The latest Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 upgrades emphasize ray-tracing, support for higher frame rates, and 3D audio. DualSense support for Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers is also included in the PS5 version.

Unfortunately, Capcom did not provide too much information about the next-generation enhancements. We know the fundamentals, but it’s unclear what’s changed behind the hood. The PC version now requires DirectX 12 exclusively, and the system requirements have been upgraded, although we don’t know what’s new.

I’m most interested to see what ray-tracing can achieve for games. The lighting is one of the most important aspects of Resident Evil’s environment design, and it will be fascinating to see how Capcom integrates the improved illumination. Hopefully, it won’t detract from the already-popular atmosphere.

Unfortunately, my top request for these next-generation improvements was not met. I had anticipated that Capcom would release a surprise director’s cut of Resident Evil 3 that would address some of the game’s flaws. I thought it was a long chance, but I’m still upset. Despite its flaws, it’s still worth playing. I’ll undoubtedly go through it again to see what’s changed.
