On Tuesday, January 24th, nominations were announced for the 95th Annual Academy Awards. Several films, including Elvis and The Fabelmans, received multiple nods. With 11 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, and acting nods for its core cast of Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu, and Ke Huy Quan, the indie multi-verse smash Everything Everywhere All At Once was the frontrunner.
Best Picture nominees included Elvis and The Fabelmans. Avatar: The Way of Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Tár, Top Gun: Maverick, The Triangle of Sadness, and Women Talking are the other nominees for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Austin Butler, who played Elvis Presley, and Brendan Fraser, who made a major comeback in The Whale, both received Best Actor nominations. Bill Nighy for Living, Paul Mescal for Aftersun, and Colin Farrell for The Banshees of Inisherin also received nominations.

According to sentienlassam, two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett for Best Actress. Blanchett is nominated for her role as the title conductor in Tár. And Andrea Riseborough, who was a bit of a dark horse but benefited from a celebrity-studded campaign, was nominated for her role in Leslie.
Award Nomination According To Their Work
For Best Director, Daniels, who directed Everything, Everywhere, will go up against Steven Spielberg (for The Fabelmans), Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin), Todd Field (Tár), and Ruben stlund (Triangle of Sadness). One year after Jane Campion became only the third woman ever to win Best Director at the Oscars, there were no women nominated in this category this year.

Hsu and Curtis of Everything, Everywhere are competing for the Supporting Actress award alongside Angela Basset of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Hong Chau of The Whale, and Kerry Condon of The Banshees of Inisherin. Two of Condon’s co-stars in Banshees, Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan, were nominated for Best Supporting Actor, where they will face off against Judd Hirsch (The Fabelmans), Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway), and Quan (Everything, Everywhere) respectively.

Both Rihanna and Mitski, who were nominated for the first time, are well-known for their original songs. Mitski co-wrote “This Is a Life” for Everything, Everywhere with David Byrne and Ryan Lott, while SZA was nominated for “Lift Me Up,” which she wrote for Black Panther with Terms, Ludwig Göransson, and Ryan Coogler.
There’s also “Hold My Hand,” a duet by Lady Gaga and Bloodpop from Top Gun: Maverick, and “Naatu Naatu,” the main song from the Telugu-language blockbuster RRR (and the first song from an Indian movie to be nominated for Best Original Song). If Diane Warren wasn’t nominated for Best Original Song, it wouldn’t feel like the same category. The legendary songwriter was nominated for an Oscar for the song “Applause” from the film Tell It Like It Is.

While she has yet to take home the actual award, she did receive an honorary Oscar for her lifetime of work in the field last year. The nominees in all 23 categories were announced during a special Livestream broadcast from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, hosted by Oscar winners Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams.
On March 12, Jimmy Kimmel will once again host the Academy Awards. Because Kevin Hart declined to host in 2019, the Oscars went without a host in 2020 and 2021, and last year’s show was co-hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes, the last time Kimmel presided over the ceremony in its entirety.
