The Texas-based PC and videogame publishing company was founded in January 1998 with the mission to bridge the gap between publishers and independent game developers. Fueled by past publishing experiences and frustrations, several experienced development companies bound together to form The Gathering, a relationship-based publisher. The company later became a subsidiary of Take Two Interactive. The Gathering\'s first wave of releases included Railroad Tycoon II, Nocturne, Darkstone, Age of Wonders and FLY!. The company, now also known as Godgames (Gathering of Developers Games), later expanded to the console market. Now just known as \"Gathering,\" the group now functions as a publishing division/label of parent company Take-Two Interactive. It\'s first console game on consoles is Mafia.
