It’s not every day you hear a PC-centric developer say something good about the console market. According to an interview conducted by Stephen Totilo at Kotaku, the Crytek crew believes that making Crysis 2 work for console actually turned out for the better.
The rational for this belief is since the market on console is more “brutal” and competitive, the developers had to pick up their game and really match the quality of content that was already out there. You can take that response, or the true response which in a round-about way calls console gamers so ADD they can’t pay attention for more than ten seconds:
“We have to make sure split seconds they accept Crysis and not reject it. That’s the brutality of the market. In PC games, you have a bit more time, maybe a minute left before you get rejected. In the console it feels like you have 10 seconds to tell me why you’re awesome.”
You can always read the full interview. Regardless of the reasons why, Crysis 2 looks like a very interesting title for this year’s release schedule. It’ll be interesting to see if a renown PC developer can make the jump.
