If you’re a fan of Halo 2 then the news that the game would no longer receive online support starting next month, must’ve been a real bummer. Microsoft is looking to do you one better though, in hopes to soften the blow, and help to transition you into the modern era of online gaming with the Halo franchise.

In an effort to showcase how much fun the online play in Halo: Reach will be, as well as work out the bugs. The House of Gates is offering diehard Halo 2 players the chance to get in on the beta for the game. Previously the beta was only available to those that purchased Halo 3: ODST, now it’s not. If you’re invited to partake in the online multiplayer beta for Halo: Reach, you will receive an email from Microsoft, which will include 3 free months of Xbox LIVE Gold, 400 Microsoft Points, and a special invite to join the multiplayer beta.

Not bad, one thing is for certain, there are going to be a lot of people participating in the beta come next month. That much you can count on for sure.
