GelTabz

Every once in a while something comes along that catches you by surprise. Gimmicky things that actually turn out to be quite cool. Titles such as LEGO Star Wars and Katamari Damacy come to mind. Well, get ready to add a new entry to that list. That entry goes by the name of GelTabz, thumb grips that promise to ease the abuse marathon gaming sessions inflict upon your thumbs.
Yes, they sound quiet gimmicky. But guess what? They actually work. GelTabz apply with ease to your Xbox controller, and leave no sticky residue whatsoever when you remove them. They add some padding to the analog sticks and also have little bumps on the surface to increase your grip of the thumbsticks. They really do feel quite comfortable, and once you use a controller with GelTabz you won’t want to go back. Aesthetically, they also blend in well with the 360 controller to boot. But if you haven’t been able to pick up a 360 yet, fear not: GelTabz work with both the 360 controller and the original Xbox controller. While there are specifically marked packages for each, I found that the 360 GelTabz worked fine on Xbox controllers, and visa versa.

The one downside to the GelTabz, aside from the awful name, is the fact that they occasionally slip off the controller during long gameplay sessions. They are easy to reapply, but it’s a pain to have to locate them once they drop onto the ground, as they are quite small. In the end, despite a little quality control issue on the occasional grip, I couldn’t recommend GelTabz more. They are incredibly comfortable and at the affordable price of only $5.99 you can’t go wrong. Grab a pack and see if you like ‘em; smart money says you will.
