As with anything in life, opinions are wholly subjective based on the point of view of the individual.  In terms of video games, there are categories to help fans and players clearly define a specific classification of any given genre.  But there’s always someone with an opinion even when it comes to those defined categories, case and point?  BioWare’s Daniel Erickson, who during a interview with Strategy Informer, offered up his feelings on Final Fantasy XIII, stating, “You can put a ‘J’ in front of it, but it’s not an RPG. You don’t make any choices, you don’t create a character, you don’t live your character… I don’t know what those are – adventure games maybe? But they’re not RPG’s.”

According to Mikko Rautalahti, the and the development team behind Alan Wake, would have to be “goddamn idiots to not be satisfied” with the critical success that the game has received.  Things have been so good that Rautalahti states that if the sales make it viable, a sequel will definitely be in the cards.  But that’s just a common denominator to the equation.

Ever since Hironobu Sakaguchi left Square Enix to form his own development studio, he has been a strong supporter of the Xbox 360.  According to comment made to Famitsu in a recent interview Sakaguchi is still rallying around the 360, proclaiming that he expects the news surrounding the console will be a big deal.

If you’re a fan of Capcom’s Verses series, then you were probably ecstatic when the news and trailer for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 was revealed.  But aside from the inclusion of Chris Redfield in the trailer, many were wondering who else would the game feature.

Considering that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was one of the most successful video games ever released on the mass market; you’d think that the publisher and developer would be poppin’ bottles just like they won a championship?  But things have been anything but cozy between Activision and Infinity Ward, with 35 employees jumping ship in the wake of losing its founding executives.

Now that things have appeared to settle down a bit, Activision big boss Bobby Kotick has decided to break through the silence and explain the real reason why he decided to take action against the head honchos of one his company’s popular games, stating, “The background leading up to our decision to separate the two former Infinity Ward executives for breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty is outlined in our cross complaint that we filed in April, which I’m sure many of you have read.”

Every second is like a snowflake.  No two counts are alike.  Poetic sentence fragments aside, earlier this week we posted a story about Gears of War 3 and that how it would be set dramatically in the open seas of Sera.  But it appears that the details of the game, as reported by the Russian gaming source – right on the Epic forums – had things a little bit twisted.  Dude Huge aka Cliff Blezinski, gave Kotaku the low-down on what exactly will be officially going on in Gears of War 3.

So there’s this little beta going on for some game called Halo: Reach, maybe you might have heard of it?  All kidding aside, chances are if you’re a Halo fan you’ve already put the beta through its paces.  That is if you’re a Gold subscriber to Xbox Live.  If you’re a Silver member, put your worries aside, as Microsoft has announced that they will be making the beta available to Silver subscription holders May 14.

That stands as good news for those of you out there that haven’t had a chance to test out the beta.  As a guy that digs MW 2 multiplayer over Halo 3, I have to say I’ve been pretty impressed with the Halo: Reach beta.  It’s fun, fast paced, and after countless hours logged, I’ve only encountered one foul mouthed jerk.  Hopefully it stays that way.

Punk rock beat -em up Charlie Murphy will make its Xbox Live Arcade debut in 2012.  The game was originally slated to be an Xbox Live Indie Game, was pulled out of Microsoft’s independent lineup shortly after it was shown at PAX East 2010.

A Russian gaming mag has broken some of the plot details of Epic Games Gears of War 3.  If you’re the type of person that doesn’t want to ruin your gaming experience with spoilers, then you should probably stop reading right now.  For everyone else who is super interested in the news, keep on reading.

Fallout: New Vegas will be available later this year, and as with any high profile game in a successful franchise, details are rolling out slowly.  If you haven’t been keeping pace with all news concerning Fallout: New Vegas, will let TX get you up to speed.  For starters the game is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, instead of Bethseda Softworks.  That’s not the only significant change in store for the follow-up to Fallout 3.  The game will place you in the role of courier who gets a bullet to the dome while trying to deliver some info and thus will begin you adventure.

In wake of all the drama that has surrounded Activision and Infinity Ward, it’s nice to know that someone in the company still is maintaining a sense of humor.

Activision has announced that the Stimulus Package the recent downloadable map offering for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been sold to 2.5 million customers. That’s a pretty impressive number for content that has only been available for about a week. What’s even more monumental is the fact that the DLC moved 1 million units within the first 24 hours.

There’s no shortage of viral marketing options, for any form of entertainment to get their promotions campaign rolling. Ubisoft is employing Twitter to help set the tone for Splinter Cell: Conviction. Using an account dubbed www.Twitter.com/real_samfisher, there have been numerous updates about Mr. Fishers motives for his “mission”. A bunch of vague stuff like “When you believe, it’s easy to sacrifice,” or “Don’t Believe What You Hear, My Mission Is One of Justice”.

There’s nothing like a some good gossip to set things off nicely, and there is some juicy gossip that has been floating around. There’s been some speculation that Microsoft is about to unveil a brand-spanking new slim version of the Xbox 360; but without proof it’s just talk right? Well there have been some pics of a new slimmer motherboard that have surface, that would add some credence to the speculation.

It seems like it wasn’t too long ago that Splinter Cell: Conviction developers were alluding that the demo for the game would be released at some point. We now have a hard line release date for the demo, and it’s coming a lot sooner than you think.

There’s nothing wrong with doing a little comparing and contrasting. A lot of times it lets you figure out the pros and cons of what it is you are looking at. One of the important factors in doing any comparison, is making sure the items have some familiarity between them. Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama did a little comparison with Japanese RPG’s, pitted against western RPG’s. There was only one problem, the games he used to represent western RPG’s weren’t RPG’s at all, they fell more into the third-person shooter category.

It’s official, the new map pack coming to Modern Warfare 2 on March 30, will indeed be called the Stimulus Package. It will feature a grand total of five maps, three which are brand new, and two which are remakes of old maps from CoD 4: Modern Warfare. The next big question many are probably wondering? How much will it run your wallet for? Don’t fret, we’ve got the answer: $15.

BioWare has made it a key point to their development process, to take into consideration what fans of their games are saying. While Mass Effect 2 corrected some of the problems that people had with Mass Effect 1, there were still some who had complaints with the game.

EA Games is stepping into the modern warfare (pun intended) arena, with the upcoming release of Medal of Honor. Game Trailers has a brand new trailer, showing off the game in action, and setting up the story elements. It appears as if the virtual war isn’t going so good for the good guys, so to help combat the baddies they enlist the help of a “new kind of warrior”.

You just have to love fan people, sure we’re all fanatical about something or the other. But video game fan people usually end up being the most die hard, stick to their guns, of the lot. Well I’m not going to include European football fans because they are in a league of their own.
