Microsoft Warns Consumers About Buying Modded Xbox 360's

Last week was a busy week for everyone over at Microsoft HQ. Between breaking Xbox Live records, and releasing Halo Waypoint; The House of Gates brought down the ban hammer on a large number of players gaming on modded Xbox 360's. Many of the gamers who had their Xbox Live privileges infinitely suspended, are trying to salvage the situation by selling their consoles on Craigslist. CNET has reported that there has been a massive increase in Craiglist listings for Xbox 360's and Microsoft has taken notice, urging people thinking of pulling the trigger on one of the systems, not to.

Microsoft has issued stern warnings to potential buyers, letting them know that if they purchase systems that have been modded, they will never be able to access Xbox Live with the consoles.

"If you purchase a modified console second-hand, the warranty is not transferable and the purchaser assumes the risk for any previous modifications. If you purchase a console that has been previously banned, you will not be able to connect to LIVE," a Microsoft rep told IGN.

So if you're planning on buying a used Xbox 360 anywhere on the internet, you might want to make sure you're not getting scammed. In some cases sellers aren't even letting on that their consoles have been exiled from Live. For shame, totally foul play.
