Teen That Shot Parents Over Halo 3 Uses Going Loco As His Defense

Daniel Petric the teen who found him self submerged in the deep end of the crazy pool and ended up shooting his parents, killing his mother and injuring his father over Halo 3, has went to trial and stated his case.  For those of you who didn't see it coming Petric is pleading that he took a bunch of crazy pills momentary insanity, or in layman terms that he just lost his mind for a spell.

His lawyer tried to reinforce these claims on Tuesday by having friends and family testify on the kids character.  Petric's defense has tried to use videogames as the scape goat, his sister Holly took the stand and said he became addicted to videogames when he couldn't leave the house for a year because of a snowboarding injury.  A good friend of Petric, 17-year old Jonathan Johnson, testified that his buddy was so hooked on Halo that he would play the game for at least seven hours a day over at the Johnson families house.  To drive this point home Johnson recollected a story from a year ago, in which the two friends had a weekend marathon with Halo 3, playing the game for 16 to 18 hours a day.  He said they only stopped to eat, sleep, or use the bathroom.  However this all took place after Mark Petric, Daniel's father, had told him to either give up Halo or get out of the house.

All of this comes into direct contradiction with what an adolescent forensic psychologist found when interviewing Petric.  Claims from mental health experts on the case have concluded that Daniel Petric is in fact very sane.  When Jon Johnson was asked if Halo 3 was the reason his friend acted out he response was a solid "No."

As of now because there is no jury involved, a judge is looking over the case and will be making his ruling later on in the week.  If convicted Daniel Petric could get life in prison.
