Gears 2 Matchmaking Fix: #1 Priority

Added 11/18/2008 by Ryan Casey

Since Gears of War 2 released on November 7 gamers have been enjoying it both online and offline.  At least they are trying to enjoy it online.  However, there are some major matchmaking issues for some people making for a overly long wait to find a match.  Epic has taken notice and, in a forum post from yesterday, announced a fix is coming as soon as possible.

They say the problem lies not in a single issue, but in a combination of factors which they hope to sort out with Microsoft's help.  However, if you want immediate relief from your matchmaking woes, try some of these suggestions.  The first is to try a different playlist because there aren't enough people playing (however unlikely that is).  They also suggest avoiding trying to start matchmaking with a party of 1 or of 4 because the problems are more common for that many players for some reason.  The final suggestion is one that applies to all Xbox Live multiplayer gaming: make sure that your router's NAT type is set to "Open" instead of "Moderate" or "Strict" to make things run more smoothly.  Hopefully these suggestions can help you some.  If not, at least you know that a full fix is coming soon.
