Xbox 360 Price Drop, Christmas in July?

Confirmed by the Wall Street Journal, the Xbox 360 Premium will experience a price drop as soon as this upcoming Sunday, analysts say.  The new MSRP will be $299.99USD, a $50 drop in price from the current MSRP.  The Premium will still come with all of the current options, including HD/SD video cable, headset, and 20GB hard drive.

Wal-Mart, Target, Circuit City, and Radio Shack retail outlets will offer $25 to $30 gift cards along with the purchase of an Xbox 360 Premium, though some stores will require an additional purchase to get the gift card.

This may be the time to get your kids their Christmas presents, ladies and gents, but waiting may be on the menu.  The Xbox 360 Arcade will still retail for $279.99USD after the Premium\'s price drop, but the Christmas season is starting in a few months and I, for one, wouldn\'t be surprised if we saw another price drop before the end of the year.
