Microsoft Cracking Down on Gamerscore Cheaters

Major Nelson has dropped word on his website late last night that Microsoft has begun cracking down on gamers who have been caught cheating to raise their Gamerscore. Those unlucky gamers caught cheating/boosting have been hit with one hell of a punishment and had their coveted Gamerscores completely wiped out and replaced with…nothing. That’s right. All their “hard work” has been rewarded with a very fitting 0GS.

As a result of this wipe, cheaters can’t go back to their older games and try to earn those points back, instead, can try to redeem themselves by earning new achievements legitimately. Or, in other words, like the rest of us. Besides the complete loss of Gamerscore, perhaps the worst punishment of all is being branded a cheater on Xbox.com and forced to carry that mark of shame with them whenever someone takes a peek at their profile. Ouch. That’s got to be one bitter pill…
