Xbox 360 Sales Up 40 Percent in Europe

Last week, Microsoft announced they were slashing the price of the Xbox 360 throughout all of Europe. This past weekend, retailers throughout the UK have seen the console fly off the shelves at a much higher rate. According to Chart-Track, Xbox 360 sales were up 40 percent from a period beginning Friday, when the price cut was put into effect, until midnight Saturday.

 

It is, however, uncertain if this price cut was the sole cause of the sudden increase in sales with the typically busy Easter holiday looming just around the corner. While this is certainly great news for Microsoft in the short-term, we’ll soon see if the price cut equates to steady performance through Easter.

 

Things are looking up for the Xbox 360 in Europe. Now, Microsoft, about that rumored North American price drop…it would make the console even more tempting with big titles such as Grand Theft Auto 4 on the horizon...
